These savory mini cheesecakes are filled with lemon and dill, baked inside phyllo shells and topped with a bit of lox (cured salmon). They’re perfect for parties, entertaining or as game day snacks. They also make a great late-night snacks when you’re hanging on the couch. Do you ever wake up one morning and realize that time is just flying by? It’s already the middle of January, and yet I feel as though we were just celebrating the New Year. I suppose it’s like anything... more

Gingered Clementine and Pomegranate Shrimp
These gingered clementine and pomegranate shrimp make fantastic appetizers or even a quick lunch. They come together quickly, cook even quicker, and then you’re left with tasty little shrimp covered in a sweet and spicy glaze. What’s not to love? Last winter I was involved in this fantastic project that was the brainchild of one of my favorite people, Julie of Dinner with Julie. She had gathered a group of food bloggers together to make a cookbook that would benefit Haiti and Blog... more
Saying Goodbye to Summer: Thai Red Curry Shrimp
Fall came in this week with a burst of cool wind, bringing out our sweaters and socks, sandals packed reluctantly away as we prepare to move into the next season. Still, though, there are tomatoes and summer squash at the farmers market, hopefully for a few more weeks, sitting in wooden crates and baskets right alongside the apples that are becoming more and more prevalent with each passing week, and the last of the summer vegetables must not go unused. I’ve been craving curry for a while,... more
Lemongrass Scallops and a Nakano Giveaway
We eat quite a bit of food with a Southeast Asian flare around here. Sometimes I make it; other times I seek it out and purchase it, but either way, we’re no stranger to the flavors or the fantastic smells that cooking with rice wines and vinegars, teeny, tiny chili peppers or lemongrass and ginger bring. I was recently asked to try out Nakano’s Seasoned Rice Vinegar and to give a lucky reader the chance to do the same. I agreed, seeing that Nakano’s Natural Rice Vinegar was hanging... more
Salmon Wellington with a Beurre Blanc & Thermador’s New Steam Convection Oven
Last week I had the privilege of spending some time in Scottsdale, Arizona with a group of amazing bloggers after being invited to the Thermador Showroom as they released their new Steam & Convection Oven, set to hit the market this fall. Before I even said yes to going, I knew that I was in love with Thermador. I mean, have you seen Thermador’s appliances? Gorgeous with their Star Burner and sapphire lights! Our trip to the showroom started with a gourmet breakfast offered up by Thermador’s... more
Grilled Pineapple-Mango Salmon
This past November I signed up to be adopted by another blogger through Dine and Dish. My blog was still a baby, not even a year old, and I was in need of some focus and direction. The stars aligned, and Michelle from What’s Cooking entered my life. Michelle has been wonderful when I needed someone to bounce ideas off of, and her work teaching kids how to cook and plan meals is nothing short of amazing. Here I was, dreaming of inspiring families to cook, and there she was, actually going... more
Fish Tacos: Repurposed Leftovers or Not
I mentioned last week that one way to get in your own kitchen more often and away from the takeout containers was to make extra meat or extra ingredients that can be repurposed later and used in different meals. Following my own advice, fish tacos were born! We had quite a bit of fish left from our tilapia meal because we had started with over three pounds of fish. Because tilapia is firm fish and they had been baked in nothing but a bit of seasoning and milk, the leftover fillets were perfect... more
