Today I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Swap. You’ll find me posting over at GoodLife Eats this morning about a certain Roasted Potato and Spinach Frittata and striving for grace during moments of stress, and I’m excited to welcome Tara from Unsophisticook to Food For My Family where she shares one of her go-to grilled vegetable recipes in easy foil packets : Much like Shaina, I place a high priority on feeding my family wholesome and healthful meals. Perfect One-Dish Dinners: Steamed Broccoli Vinaigrette

Posted by Shaina On October - 25 - 2010

We sit in the pediatrician’s office, the five of us, my four kids and me. They’ve put us in the corner room where there’s a bit more space to roam about as they know I show up with my brood of kids and cramming us into a standard exam room would be near impossible, especially once you add a doctor and a nurse to the mix. Still, there are only two chairs in addition to the wheeled stool the pediatrician spins around on as he talks to my children, attempting to balance the patient... more

Grilled Artichokes and Easy Garlic Aioli

Posted by Shaina On May - 5 - 2010

Spring marks the presence of fresh vegetables. You know, the kind that didn’t grow in the ground. Artichokes, asparagus, spinach and ramps all start to make their appearance. Refrigerator Pickles: The Taste of Summer

Posted by Shaina On August - 16 - 2009

When we were considering what to fill our raised bed garden with this spring, one of the things that made the list and was on the “must have” list were chub cucumbers or pickling cucumbers. Chubs are smaller cucumbers. They’re like the short, stumpy cousin to the long, lanky cucumber most of us are familiar with. If you pick them early, they look like a pickle, but if you leave them, they fill out and get this pudgy shape. They’re also a little bit firmer than your regular,... more

Sautéd Ginger Garlic Green Beans

Posted by Shaina On June - 12 - 2009

Jen Isham went home on The Next Food Network Star premiere this Sunday for making green beans for a room full of Food Network stars. A simple search of their recipe index reveals that they have 186 sautéd green bean recipes. This doesn’t even begin to go into the total 1201 recipes that involve green beans on the site. What they’re saying is you can make green beans, just do it at home and not for a room full of Food Network stars. In fact, you could make THESE green beans. At home.... more
