Buffalo chicken pizza is your favorite buffalo wing chicken resting on top of a crisp, easy-to-throw-together pizza crust and a blue cheese spread and then topped off with a bit of celery, TABASCO® Original Red and blue cheese crumbles. Perfect for adding a bit of spice to your Valentine’s Day.

Over the past few months a transformation has been going on. Kiera, the child who once shuddered at the sight of pepper specks on her food, has been happily adding hot sauce to several meals for an additional kick. Tacos, quesadillas, eggs and paella have all received the “Tabasco treatment” from my 10-year-old daughter.

One thing I’ve enjoyed as the kids get older is watching their true appreciation for food. Rather than having food just be something they need to do to keep hunger at bay, they’ve really started to define what tastes good to them and what doesn’t, and it shows as they choose what goes on their plate and how they decide to eat it once it’s there.

Buffalo chicken wings have long been a favorite, and the past few months there’s been more talk about buffalo chicken dip than I personally know what to do with. The obvious progression was to turn that into a buffalo chicken pizza for an easy meal or appetizer.

Start with tabasco, butter and a bit of apple cider vinegar in a pan.

Leftover chicken works great, but if you don’t have any, a couple grilled chicken breasts will substitute nicely. Chop them coarsely.

Add the chicken to the heated sauce and stir to coat.

In a large bowl mix together warm water and yeast and let sit for five or so minutes.

Then mix in a bit of olive oil, salt and flour 1/2 cup at a time. You could also do this in a stand mixer with a dough hook.

Turn the pizza dough out and knead a few times to make a ball.

Roll the pizza dough out on a floured surface to 1/4″ thick.

Yep, individual pizza hearts for your valentine.

For the pizza sauce we’re going to go with a blue cheese to balance the heat. Blue and cream cheese get mixed first.

The sauce then gets thinned with a bit of half & half.

And the sauce gets spread on the pizza.

Top it with a good helping of chicken and then a light sprinkle of cheese, just enough to hold it together.

Then send your pizza into the oven to bake. When it comes out, top it with blue cheese and thinly sliced celery. If you really love your TABASCO, add a sprinkle to finish off the pizza.

That’s our pizza with a twist of spice to heat up your Valentine’s Day on Monday, but there are plenty of other ways you could perfect your pizza and give it a kick. Check out Tabasco’s Game-Day Party Menu and Pizza Perfected for more ideas.

Buffalo wings meet pizza night. This pizza can also be cut into strips and served as a flat bread, making it the perfect party food as well.

1 cup warm water, 110° F
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling

Place warm water in a medium to large bowl and sprinkle yeast over the top. Allow to sit 5 minutes. Add in salt and olive oil and then start adding in flour, 1/2 cup at a time, using a fork to incorporate after each addition or using a dough hook in an electric mixer.

When all the flour is incorporated and the dough is stretchy but not too sticky (add more flour if it is still extremely wet), turn out onto floured surface. **Dough can also be frozen at this point for use at a later date.** Separate into two balls and roll to 1/4″ thick.

Top with desired toppings. Bake at 475° F for 20-25 minutes until crust starts to brown and cheese toppings are melted and starting to turn as well.

1 recipe No-Rise Pizza Dough
1/4 cup TABASCO Original
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 grilled chicken breasts or leftover shredded chicken
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 ounces blue cheese
3-4 tablespoons half & half or milk
6 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
To top the pizza:
TABASCO Original
blue cheese crumbles
2 stalks celery, thinly sliced

Preheat oven to 475° F. In a small saucepan combine TABASCO, butter and cider vinegar. Melt over medium-high heat. Add in shredded chicken and stir to combine. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a small bowl mix together cream cheese and blue cheese. Stir in half & half until the mixture reaches an easy spreading consistency.

To assemble pizza, break pizza dough in two and roll into two circles. For heart-shaped pizzas, roll out 1/4″ thick and use a large heart cookie cutter to cut out hearts. Repeat until all dough is used. Top each pizza with blue cheese spread. Add a layer of shredded chicken to the top, covering the blue cheese spread. Lightly sprinkle the shredded cheddar over pizzas, distributing evenly. (This will be a very fine layer.) Bake at 475° F for 20-25 minutes until crust is golden brown and cheese is completely melted.

When pizza is finished, top with celery, blue cheese crumbles and additional TABASCO Original.

  24. WOnderful idea. I saw another post earlier that didn’t claim that the post was her own opinion, but that the sauce was provided. I actually asked her if it was an advertisement – but she made beautiful biscuits and it was a gorgeous post. Tabasco is obviously recognizing the power of the food blogger. I love it, too. I must try your topping idea. Love the whimsy of the heart shapes for V day.
