Only one weekend left until we send our kids off to school. I have to admit I’m looking forward to it, not because I don’t want them around, but because I think they’ll be happy to have some routine that involves other kids, other activities, someone – anyone – other than me. We spent the weekend with family, going to the zoo and bumming around the neighborhood. I also fit in a short photo session with my nieces and nephews and we took a family walk, all 12 of us, down the street and back. I have to say I’m sad that tomorrow is Monday.
Because we had company, we didn’t get to the grocery store, but I did drag my sister-in-law to a few places to pick up what I needed, and I made a stop at Trader Joe’s yesterday on my way home. The menu, with those items, is what follows.
Monday – Blackened salmon, rice and green beans
Tuesday – Baked Italian Meatballs, spaghetti, garlic bread, spring mix salad
Wednesday – The Great Minnesota Get-Together: an all day on-a-stick feast
Thursday – Build-Your-Own Burritos, Spanish rice, refried beans
Friday – Grilled chicken, zucchini tomatoes provolone, pesto cheese bread
Recipes to look for here at Food for My Family this week: The banana cake turned into a rum-infused banana cake. I also need to share the lemon pasta. I’ll get on that. Ooooh, and I need to post my pesto recipe. I love when the basil is ready.

the baked italian meatballs caught my attention, as did “the great Minnesota get-together”! I so wish I could go… I’ve missed the fair so much since I’ve moved away. Enjoy all the wonderful things at the fair! I’d love to see what your family enjoyed “on a stick” at the fair.

Pesto cheese bread? Yum! Do you buy it or make it?

SnoWhite, we LOVE the fair, so much that we’ll be going Saturday too. We are close enough to walk there, so it’s hard to stay away.
Becca, we make it. I’ll be sure to post the recipe for you.
