We did it. The tree is up in the living room and the Kidney Bean is curious as ever. I wonder how many times he’s going to ask, “Wh-is-it?” before he just gets used to its presence there. We haven’t decorated yet, but I’m pretty excited to actually get lights and ornaments up on it. I’m not a trinket person, so really, this is it here. Ole might put a few lights up outside because he likes to…and then leaves them up for seven or eight months. I may even water the poinsettia this year so it doesn’t die. Ooh, and I thought about filling the vase on the kitchen counter with berry-covered branches.
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that that little lady’s front teeth got a bit more crooked this past week when she took a face plant right into our front steps. There was blood. There were tears. There were black and blue gums and loose teeth. They aren’t black yet, so I’m holding out hope that they retain their milky white color. It’d be three or so long years until she loses them. They’re still hanging in there, though. Loose, but hanging on.
Monday – I’m breaking out a pan of turkey casserole because I don’t want to cook by myself while Ole gives his students their final.
Tuesday – Chicken and broccoli fettuccine with gorgonzola alfredo, spring mix salads
Wednesday – Build-your-own burritos, guacamole, blue corn chips
Thursday – Hearty steak chili using this recipe as a guide and whole wheat bread from Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day
Friday – On my way to California for a work trip! I’m both excited to be traveling and stressed out thinking of all the things I have to get done both before and after. If you have any restaurants I should check out in San Francisco while we’re there, feel free to point me in the right direction. This isn’t our first time there, but we love recommendations and trying places we haven’t been before.
Recipes to look for here at Food for My Family this week: I’m going to start with Christmas shortbread and peppermint hot chocolate. I’ll see where the wind takes me from there.
