We had our first Thanksgiving dinner today with my dad’s side of the family. It was fantastic. My job was to show up with sweet potato casserole and consume food, keep my kids from spilling anything (success!) and make sure my mom lost at air hockey at least once (she’s brutal). We took a trip or two down memory lane, which is what usually happens when my dad’s siblings get together, and a good time was had by all. Lots to be thankful for, including my grandpa, who turns 90 next month.
This week is full of baking and telling you how I used my leftover turkey from my Roast Turkey in 5 Easy Steps post, a fantastic and foolproof way to get good results even for a first time turkey roaster. It definitely hung around, and using all of it made for not just one, but 5 separate meals. Be sure to check back Friday to see my five ways to take advantage of after-Thanksgiving turkey deals or just use up what’s left from the day before.
Monday – Leftovers made new: turkey soup in sourdough bread bowls
Tuesday – Chicken piccata, browned butter angel hair, spring mix salads
Wednesday – Breakfast for dinner: blueberry pecan pancakes and scrambled eggs this time
Thursday – Thanksgiving dinner with my mom’s side
Friday – Turkey detox: pesto-baked salmon and baby arugula salads
Recipes to look for here at Food for My Family this week: My favorite turkey sandwich, leftover turkey casserole, post-Thanksgiving turkey broth, chicken stew

Love the family photo! It reminds me of the autumns in Southern Maine. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
