I was transported back to 1987 today, except I was the same age as I am today and in awe of Richard Dean Anderson, who had just saved the day and pulled a classic MacGyver by getting the car started using nothing but the power adapter wiring from the tape deck, some discarded plastic, a twist-tie and a screwdriver, just in time for us to escape from the antagonist’s carefully laid trap. Then I snapped out of it and realized that it wasn’t 1987. It was 2009, and Richard Dean Anderson was really my husband starting the car in a parking lot in Duluth, then again at Gooseberry Falls and yet again at Betty’s Pies with nothing but power adapter wiring, some discarded plastic, a twist-tie and a screwdriver.
It’s been a full weekend, to be followed by a full week and yet another full weekend. I’ll be happy when we’re on the other side of it. Between fixing the car so it doesn’t require the aforementioned starting mechanism, a photo shoot with the newest Olmanson (who arrived last night – congratulations, Charles and Donnell!), work and book fair commitments, I can guarantee it’s going to have to be an organized one.
Monday – Empty-the-fridge vegetarian rice bake with artichokes, spinach and whatever else I can find
Tuesday – Sweet and sour chicken, Ahi tuna potstickers, ginger garlic green beans (holdover from last week when we ended up at Gasthof‘s to bid farewell to my baby brother as he leaves for Australia.)
Wednesday – Chicken Kiev, browned butter pasta, spring mix salads
Thursday – Blackened Cajun salmon, dirty rice, broccoli
Friday – Juicy Lucys, homemade green bean fries, (We’re testing a new recipe for Juicy Lucys that we may just enter in local competition if all goes well.)

I’m sorry that your car is messed up, but LOL at your husband as MacGyver. That cracked me up. At least he doesn’t have a mullet though!
Chicken Kiev from scratch! I hope you’ll post the results. I struggle with stuffed things; my filling always ends up all over. I’m afraid mine would end up chicken breasts sitting in an herb butter sea. 😉

Car troubles are the worst. I hope you get it fixed (we recently got our car back after $500 in repairs and it was Not. Fixed. I can only hope this doesn’t happen to you).
The blackened Cajun salmon sounds delicious.
